Leelanau law enforcement and the community at large is reeling from the sudden death of one of its own. Detective Bob Bailey, 47, died March 10 at Munson Medical Center. Emergency medical personnel and deputies were dispatched that morning to his Elmwood Township home, where he was recuperating after knee surgery. Bailey collapsed and was transported to Munson, where he later expired *** Local tribal members and officials of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore are hailing the appointment this week of the first Native American Cabinet secretary in U.S. history. Deb Haaland of New Mexico was confirmed Monday by the U.S. Senate as Secretary of the Department of the Interior and was to be sworn into office today.
