A look into the exhibit’s creation
Traditional Native American art is displayed all year-long and open to the public at the Leelanau Historical Society (LHS) museum thanks to a permanent exhibit as well as a virtual one available online.
Known as “The Katherine Hall Wheeler, Traditional Anishinabek Arts Room,” which officially launched in 2005, the exhibit space documents and helps to showcase beautifully preserved birch bark, quillwork and black ash baskets, among other special objects, from mostly local artists in the Leelanau and Grand Traverse region.
