Fosmore takes MVP

The courts of Leelanau County never looked better. Glen Lake, Lake Leelanau, St. Mary, Suttons Bay, and Leland each brought something special to this year's girls basketball season — and now, the best of the best have been named to the 2025-26 Leelanau Enterprise Dream Team. The 2025-26 Leelanau Enterprise Dream Team is chosen by sports reporter Brian Freiberger, along with local high school coaches Brad Fosmore (Glen Lake), Anya Tondreau (St. Mary), Megan Munoz (Leland), and Ryan Anderson (Suttons Bay).

MVP Lydia Fosmore (Glen Lake)

Glen Lake junior Lydia Fosmore ends her junior season with the title of Enterprise Dream Team MVP after leading the Lakers to a district championship and nearly a regional finals appearance.

“This was a really great season, especially coming off of last year,” Fosmore said. “We knew we had a lot of talent coming up, and so that made it really exciting. It was a great year, filled with lots of great people, teammates and memories.”

Fosmore will always remember earning a share of the Northwest Conference title with Buckley.

“We have a very tough conference, and it was cool that we could pull through and get that win, especially with a long season. Going into districts, tournament time is always a fun time of year.

And winning that district was definitely a boost in morale for us.”

The Lakers fell to Morley Stanwood in the regional semifinal 71-43 and finished the season with a 16-9 overall record.

Fosmore claims her second straight dream team nomination and first most valuable player.

Fosmore averaged 15.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and had a career high against Buckley earlier this season with 27 points. Fosmore helped lead the Lakers to a share of the Northwest Conference.

“I've been playing with these girls basically since my elementary years, and my dad's been coaching me since elementary as well, and I think just growing with these girls and learning together and experiencing this type of game,” Fosmore said.

Fosmore hopes to build chemistry with her teammates to have an even better 2026-27 campaign. She hopes to improve her game all around for her senior season.

“I can improve upon everything. Every little detail, you can always make yourself better in every aspect,” she said.

Fosmore’s father and coach, Brad Fosmore, had this to say about the all-conference guard.

“Lydia does so much for our team, from scoring, rebounding, and handling the ball. Lydia leads by example in how hard she plays every night. She always draws the opposing team’s toughest defender. The bigger the game, the better she plays. She had a great junior season,” Brad Fosmore said.

Delanie Dembowske (Glen Lake)

Glen Lake sophomore Delanie Dembowske earns her first Dream Team nomination after dominating the paint for the Lakers all season long.

“(Dembowske) was hurt last year, so for her first year of high school basketball, she was great. She gave us a great inside scoring presence and was a tough rebounder. She had some terrific conference games that helped us to a championship,” Glen Lake coach Brad Fosmore said.

Dembowske was a force all season long with 9.8 points per game and seven rebounds per game. The sophomore had her best game with 17 points against Buckley this season.

Lorna Wiesen (Leland)

Leland senior Lorna Wiesen earned her spot on the dream team with an impressive stat line of 73 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals to cap off her three year varsity career as a captain.

Wiesen helped lead the Comets to a 14-9 overall record with a fifth place finish in the Northwest Conference and a D4 district finals appearance.

Ariah Amin (Leland)

Leland senior Ariah Amin rose to the occasion all season long, battling on both ends of the court with 6.3 points, 6 rebounds, 3.5 steals, and an assist a game.

“(Amin) was one of our most consistent scorers, but really shines on defense and rebounding. She is a true competitor who makes the people around her better,” Leland coach Megan Munoz said.

Mackenzie Schaub (St. Mary)

Lake Leelanau St. Mary senior Mackenzie Schaub earns her spot on the dream team after leading an impressive Eagle squad throughout a competitive 2025-26 season.

This is her second Enterprise Dream Team nomination as the senior ends her career.

“Mackenzie is an all-around scorer and a forward who excels both in the paint and at the three-point line. During our 25-game season, she averaged 13 points per game, including two 23-point performances. She finished the season shooting 68% from the free-throw line (83 for 121),” St. Mary coach Anya Tondreau said.

SIXTH PLAYER OF THE YEAR Aubri Carson (Suttons Bay)

Suttons Bay senior Aubri Carson went all-in for the Norse to end her career on a high note.

Carson rose to the occasion whenever the Norsemen needed her from the center position. Her extensive basketball knowledge has been a major asset to the team as she consistently leads the team in rebounds and points.

“(Carson) is a selfless leader whose exceptional determination helped her become one of the region's leading rebounders. The girls basketball program was fortunate to have her senior leadership,” Suttons Bay coach Jordan Anderson said.

SPORTSMANSHIP PLAYER OF THE YEAR Ingrid Paciorka (Leland) Leland senior earned the sportsmanship player of the year award thanks to her positive attitude.

“She does not see a lot of minutes in games, but is always engaged and helping her teammates. She is the first to cheer when something goes well and the first to pick up teammates when needed. She really feels like an extension of the coaching crew, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her coach one day. Her true love of the game is rare these days,” Leland coach Megan Munoz said about the senior.

Lake Leelanau senior Mackenzie Schaub also earned votes in the sportsmanship category.

HONORABLE MENTION Hadley Bison from Leland earned an honorable mention, along with her slashing guard teammate Ruby Popp. Bison was in charge of running the offense and playing tough defense for the Comets all season long.

Popp was a solid defender and key scorer for the Comets. She played a significant role in leading the team to the district finals.

Suttons Bay honorable mention nods include Keke Williams and Ada Wetherbee for their efforts in leading the Norsemen to a successful season.

Glen Lake sophomore guard Alayna Ottenbacher earns an honorable mention nod for her savvy point guard play and defense. Ottenbacher set up her teammates all year, averaging over 3 assists per game.

Glen Lake junior Laila Shimek earned her honorable mention nod with over five points and four rebounds per game. She had a season-high against Benzie Central, scoring 14 points.

Laker senior Grace Noonan finishes her Laker career after serving in a leadership position all season. Her scoring stats included a season-high 13 points against Brethren.

For the Eagles, St. Mary junior Adrienne Schaub earned a spot on the Dream Team honorable mention. Schaub averaged five steals per game and scored 243 points this season, maintaining a 10-point game average.

Bridget Kohler also earned an honorable mention for the Eagles, averaging eight rebounds per game, with a season- high of 13 against Traverse City St. Francis.
