GL hosts wrestling meet

Glen Lake wrestling hosted its first varsity wrestling match since the early 2000s, yesterday as of press time. Please check out our website and Facebook to read about the monumental milestone for this young program.

Glen Lake girls wrestlers Emily Alaimo and Peace Hawley-Joppich competed at the Mio girls tournament on Friday. Alaimo went 2-1 and finished third, while Hawley-Joppich went 1-2 and did not place at the Mio Girls tournament.

Varsity boy wrestlers were off until yesterday.

Glen Lake youth wrestled Saturday at the Pinconning youth NEMWA tournament.

Results: (First place) Reed Foss, Cade Moeggenberg; (Third place) Owen Foss, Fletcher Moeggenberg; (Did not place) Christian Ford, Lamdin Moeggenberg.

The youth wrestlers turned around and traveled to a MYWAY tournament in Big Rapids on Sunday.

Results: (First place) Reed Foss; (second place) Owen Foss; (third place) Blake Bullard, Christian Ford; (Did not place) Brendan Bullard, Miles Schinella, Maddox Palmer.

GL BOWLING RESULTS

Glen Lake varsity bowlers fell to Frankfort in a baker match at Lucky Jack’s in Traverse City on Saturday.

The Panthers defeated the Lakers in both baker games with a total pin count of 1,136 to 1,051.

Tanner Crick led the boys with a 205 in baker game one, followed by Riley Kinnee with a 130 in baker game two.

Glen Lake junior varsity dropped a baker game to Elk Rapids, before defeating TC Central.

The Lakers lost to Elk Rapids in total pins 1,179 to 768. Then defeated TC Central 787 to 477.
