To the editor:
Recently, a “letter to the editor” writer expressed the hope he would outlast Trump. Then two writers wrote they were shocked, just shocked, that the Enterprise published such a letter. Puh-leeze!
Save your outrage and piety. No president in my lifetime or yours has used violent and hateful rhetoric like this one. Opponents are not opponents: They are “scum” and “losers.” Protestors: “Can’t we shoot them in the legs or something?” Immigrants are “murdering thugs and rapists.” They “eat your pets.” And on it goes. January 6’ers kill cops and threaten to hang the vice-president. But they are “patriots” and pardoned on his first day in office. His contempt is not conservative vs. liberal. He violently threatened Liz Cheney. Presently, a very conservative but ethical senator from Louisiana may lose his seat because he crossed Trump.
