Mason County Central (MCC 7-1) sent Glen Lake girls basketball (7-3) home with a 56-42 loss on January 17.
Glen Lake fell behind 25-21 at halftime, then MCC built a 14-point lead in the third quarter.
Laker freshman Lydia Fosmore hit a third quarter buzzer-beater to capture momentum for Glen Lake. Despite cutting the lead to six points, MCC held on for the win.
MCC was led by standout guard Mallory Miller with 26 points.
The Lakers were led by Eleanor Valkner with 11 points, 14 rebounds; Lydia Fosmore 14 points, 8 rebounds; Hailey Anderson 11 points; Jessie Pugh 6 points, 5 rebounds.

Glen Lake bounced back Friday night with a 70-23 road win over Suttons Bay. Valkner provided a monster stat line with 23 points, 23 rebounds, along with Hailey Anderson dropping 17 points on the night. Pugh managed eight, and Tila Shimek provided depth with nine points, 10 rebounds. Fosmore managed the game well and contributed seven points.
LAKER CANCER AND COMMUNITY EVENT FRIDAY
“Together We Fight” Glen Lake is hosting dinner and tours for the community on Friday, at 5 p.m., before the Laker girls basketball team squares off against Onekama for its cancer fundraiser game (JV 5:30, varsity 7 p.m.).
The school is looking for feedback on the most recent bond proposal that failed in November 2023.
Dinner will be in the auditeria. Site tours of the school’s infrastructure will be given.
