A handful of residents gathered March 21 for Cleveland Township’s annual meeting, where officials highlighted rising emergency service demand, reviewed township projects, and approved pay increases before adopting the 2026-27 budget.
The meeting opened with approval of last year’s minutes before turning to what Supervisor Tim Stein described as the township’s largest expense — fire and emergency services. Cedar Area Fire and Rescue Chief Andy Doornbos provided an overview of the four township department’s operations, noting that 2025 was its busiest year on record.
“We ran 763 calls last year,” reported Doornbos, adding that Cleveland Township accounted for 157 of those calls, also a local high.
