To the editor:
Wise immigration policy has long been vitally important to the economic well-being of Leelanau County. As a local resident and member of the League of Women Voters of Leelanau County, I support commonsense immigration policies that will help end the crisis at our border, stop the separation of families, and provide a path to citizenship. The key to achieving meaningful and sustainable change is informed civic engagement. For that reason I am especially pleased about the program being held at the Old Arts Building (OAB) on April 9, at 5:30: “Immigration in America: What the Data Really Shows.”
The speaker, local resident Bartlomiej Skorupa, is an immigrant entrepreneur and the cofounder and chief operating officer of Mobile Pathways, an award-winning tech nonprofit that helps immigration legal aid organizations and advocates navigate the immigration process. I urge everyone to attend. The event is free, but registration, through the OAB website, https:// www. oldartbuilding. com/ events/ immigration- inamerica- what-the-data-reallyshows/, is required.
