“This is what democracy looks like.”
The chant echoed down Front Street on Saturday as hundreds of demonstrators moved through downtown Traverse City, looping from F&M Park and back again over the course of the afternoon.
The demonstration was part of the third coordinated “No Kings” protest, one of roughly 3,000 that took place nationwide. Organizers estimate over 8 million participated across the country. In Michigan, gatherings took shape in both Traverse City and Suttons Bay — different in size, but part of the same moment.
