Snowfall season ends

Enterprise contest winners to be announced this month

As the snowfall season slowly comes to an end and the spring sun begins to emerge, the Leelanau Enterprise is taking a look back at a winterpacked season and the snowfall contest entries received thus far.

This winter, the paper received approximately 533 entries for its annual snowfall contest, one of the largest number of entries received as of late since the contest was launched nearly 20 years ago. Enterprise readers’ best snowfall guesses ranged from as high as 241 inches from a reader in Northport, and as low as 45 inches from another reader in Indiana. Dozens of entries aimed their estimates low in the two digit range, but the majority of participants guessed 100 inches plus, matching with the seasonal precipitation weather pattern observed this year.
