The Leelanau Prospectors Club is accepting applications for a scholarship program offering more than $16,000 to county residents, young and old.
All scholarship recipients must reside in Leelanau County. High school seniors, adults going back to college or a trade school, and workers with job- or life-related needs are encouraged to apply.
“As an organization, we have jovial fun and camaraderie at our monthly meetings in restaurants around the county, but we’re probably best known in recent years for awarding scholarships,” said Chet Janik, who heads the scholarship committee. “Recipients for scholarships offered to high school seniors are determined by a group of retired Leelanau County educators who interview applicants and have the final say in choosing winners.”
