Just in time for spring, goat kidding season is alive and well in Leelanau County, and one award-winning cheese producer is offering a unique farm experience perfect for the whole family.

Idyll Farms has been hosting bottle feeding and snuggle sessions with its baby goats, also called kids, at its headquarters in Northport for the last four years. The annual month-long event has remained such a hit amongst visitors that Idyll Farms added two more sessions to its schedule this year.

Melissa Hiles, Idyll farm manager and cheesemaker, said they offer the special attraction at this time of year because it also happens to be when dozens of their baby goats are born. This season, she said they have about 50 baby goats at the farm, so there’s plenty of opportunity for people to visit and get cuddly with the ‘kids.’ Each session includes about 30 minutes of bottle feeding time with the baby goats, cuddles galore, and a free mini stuffed goat toy as well as a free tub of any of their goat cheese products.
