To the editor:
Our new administrator brings excellent experience and skills to help us complete our transition to independent County Finance and Human Resources Departments. As often happens, the old system is working hard to resist change….. making working for us a difficult job for our new employees and our administrator. Present issues are the same that dozens of County employees asserted three years ago when they spoke with Commissioners and our hired consultant. Once again, resistance to change/ insistence on maintaining control is asserting itself and making anyone working hard to bring our County into the present, then future, very difficult.
I want to thank Elizabeth, who recently left her job in finance, for her excellent work….. while I find it curious that the phrases used in her letter curiously repeated those of others who left finance — as if they are being advised somehow as to what to say. The HR manager, who was present, does not agree with Elizabeth’s version of the interaction.
