The Inland Seas Education Association (ISEA) will host three upcoming community, volunteer, and educational events this month. The first event, an Adopt-a-Beach Community Cleanup, is set for Friday, April 17 from 2-3:30 p.m. Participants will be working at the Captain Thomas M. Kelly Biological Station campus lakefront. Those that attend are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, weather- appropriate clothing, a five gallon bucket, and/or paper grocery bags with handles.
The second event, a spring campus cleanup, is on Monday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ISEA campus. This event will help with getting the ISEA campus ready for students. There will be inside and outside tasks including putting docks in the water, light weeding, preparing their outdoor classroom, and organizing bookshelves.
The third event on Friday, April 24 is from 4-5:30 p.m. at Leo Creek Preserve. Participants are encouraged to come out and explore the unique ecology of the vernal pools in Leo Creek Preserve. People will get to experience and discover the important role ephemeral ecosystems play in the health of local wetlands and forests. Participants can expect to meet some new critters, learn about how to participate in vernal pool conservation as a citizen scientist, and maybe get a bit muddy in the process.
