Praise for Dyer

To the editor:

Social media posts, paid ads, and outspoken critics at meetings are part of local government. As Benjamin Franklin noted more than 250 years ago, “Constructive criticism is valuable and should be welcomed— it helps keep government responsive and accountable.” As commissioner, I value and consider all input and I thank those who offer comment at meetings.

However I believe recent public attacks about Administrator Jim Dyer are off base, and I believe we are fortunate to have him on board. Constructive criticism has its place, but public discourse should emphasize respect and solutions. It should also be based on fact.
