Board nixes clerk recognition

A proposal to recognize the county clerk for her years of service was removed from the proposed Board of Commissioners’ agenda this week.

The board split, 4-3, to remove an agenda item placed on the agenda at the request of District 5 commissioner Alan Campbell.

“Mrs. Crocker is the longest-serving county clerk in the state,” Campbell said. “She was appointed clerk on May 1, 1996 after the retirement of county Clerk Dorothy Wunderlich.
