A rift between Leelanau County Sheriff Mike Borkovich and some of the county’s top elected and appointed officials appears to be growing. At a routine monthly meeting of county government department heads and elected officials on April 14, the topic of the state’s and the county’s anti-virus “mask mandate” came up, with several department heads and elected officials expressing concern about non-compliance with the masking rule. *** A popular access to Lake Michigan will remain open based on a proposed settlement in a lawsuit challenging its ownership. The Leland Township Board met in special session Friday and approved a settlement in a lawsuit seeking quiet title to the west end of Reynolds Street in Leland.
