Thirty-two students have been working since January on bringing Dr. Seuss’ stories to life in “Seussical The Musical” the spring theatre performance at Glen Lake Schools.
Seussical combines the stories of “Horton Hears a Who” with “Horton Sits on an Egg”, “The Cat in the Hat,” “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, “Green Eggs and Ham,” and many more.
Senior Miles Wright has brought a lot of soul to the role of Horton the Elephant, a character that hears the tiny people on the planet Who, when no one else can. Davanie Kamps (sophomore) is the skeptical Sour Kangaroo who leads the jungle creatures in harassing Horton when they don’t believe his story. Mackenzie Gordon (8th grade) creates playful chaos throughout the show as the Cat in the Hat. Willa Stewart (8th grade) plays Maizie laBird, a flamboyant show-off bird. Salvador Pineda (8th grade) and Hanalei Kueick (6th grade) play Mr. & Mrs. Mayor of Whoville. Avery Petroskey (8th grade) plays General Genghis Khan Schmitz, a who that crazy for war. In one of the most heartfelt moments of the play, Lochlan Wright (5th grade) and Miles have a duet together, “Alone in the Universe.”
