To the editor:
The president chose to start a war with Iran spending so much of OUR tax dollars they are afraid to tell us how much WE are spending. But, it costs more than money-13 US lives lost, 400+ soldiers injured, thousands of women, children, and men dead in Iran and Lebanon. Ships deployed for close to a year running out of food and supplies, and sometimes working toilets, receiving NO mail. Department of Defense Sec. Hegseth said at a press conference that recruits are pouring in yet they are considering reinstituting the draft. Billions spent on bombs, planes, deploying troops, ships, but nothing for healthcare, education, or social safety nets.
My two grandsons, 18 and 19-years old, talented, caring young men, may now be forced to face the same recurring horror their grandfather did at 19 in Viet Nam. It never leaves them.
