Schaub celebrates 25 years of service in real estate

On May 4, 2001, Roger Schaub started a career in real estate.

Over 25 years later, Schaub is still building relationships as the broker and owner of Schaub Team Premier Realty.

His career is defined not just by transactions but by the relationships he builds.
“When I started in real estate, listings were printed, photos were limited, and communication often meant a landline call, fax or postal,” Schaub said. “Today, everything moves faster with digital marketing, instant access to information, and real-time communication. But one thing hasn’t changed, the importance of relationships and truly understanding the people you’re working with.”

Schaub believes his constant commitment to building trust has delivered results rooted in local knowledge. 
Over the past quarter-century, Schaub has served hundreds of clients by buying and selling homes throughout Leelanau County and the greater Traverse City area. He has earned a reputation for quality.

“That’s always been the foundation,” Schaub added. “Real estate is personal. It’s about helping people through one of the most important decisions and being someone they can rely on—not just for one transaction, but over time.”

Today, Roger and his brother Tim lead a team that combines modern strategy with a deep understanding of the local market from their Suttons Bay and Leland offices. 
As he reflects on 25 years in the industry, Schaub remains focused on the future.

He looks forward to the continued opportunity to serve clients and the community he calls home.
Schaub left sales for real estate after his brother asked for help back at the turn of the century. 

Schaub points to three pivotal moments in his career: navigating the real estate market’s appreciation and depreciation during the financial crisis from 2008 to 2011; adapting to rapid technological changes; and maintaining client trust through these challenging periods.

“It was a tough time for sellers (2008-11),” Schaub said. “There was a lot of inventory, and sellers chased price reductions rapidly because of depreciation. COVID, on the other hand, saw the most appreciation in terms of scale,” Schaub said. “We were fortunate that this area has many properties not encumbered by a mortgage, so we didn’t have many foreclosure listings. But we did have many clients whose home value did not surpass their debt.” 

This was the only time in modern Leelanau history when area homes depreciated (2008-2011).
Schaub is increasing inventory as spring follows a late, snowy winter. 

Schaub stated that 77% of his business last year came from past connections, one way or another.
