Students from Pathfinder School, a private pre-school to grade 8 school in Elmwood Township, will be releasing salmon fry into the Platte River next Wednesday. The students have spent the past several months raising salmon in their classroom as part of a hands-on study of Great Lakes ecosystems. They will release the fish into the Platte River, marking the next stage in the salmon's life cycle. Throughout the year, students engage in environmental learning that connects science to real-world experience. Pathfinder was also recently recognized as a Michigan Green School. Courtesy photo
