HISTORY

5 YEARS AGO May 13, 2021

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners took a big step this week toward setting rules for prayer at county board meetings. Generally, only “eligible members of the clergy” representing “religious congregations with an established presence in Leelanau County” will be allowed to offer prayers at county board meetings. *** A Traverse City man has been criminally charged stemming from a May 6 incident during an event attended by Gov. Whitmer in which he became agitated, threw a local news reporter’s microphone and spit on another member of the media. Michael Thomas Harrison, 39, is facing two counts of assault and battery and one count each of malicious destruction of property and disturbing the peace, according to court records.
