Kingsley defeated Leland on Friday night 39-30 in a Northwest Conference game.

The Comets traveled to Suttons Bay yesterday as of press time.

Kingsley jumped out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter.

“A few minutes in the first quarter with some missed defensive rotations was the difference in the game against Kingsley, but I was very proud of the way that we responded and played Kingsley even the rest of the game,” Leland coach Ryan Knudsen said.

The Stags went into halftime up 24-13. The Comets would cut Kingsley lead down to 11 in the third quarter (32-21), but the comeback fell short as the stags pulled away late and held the Comets to nine points in the fourth quarter.

Leland senior Mallory Lowe led with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Comet junior Elli Miller had 10 points, four rebounds, four steals, and Ella Knudsen had four points, nine rebounds, five steals, and three assists.
