Activities more than a show; brings people together

Leelanau residents are coming together to make their communities better places to live.

More than 25 volunteers showed up for a clean-up day Saturday in Suttons Bay. The effort, organized by Green Suttons Bay, included cleaning out rain gardens; planting trees; picking up discarded trash and cigarette butts; planting a native plant garden behind St. Joseph Street and even painting a mobile mural to be placed in a high traffic area somewhere in the village.

The mural was sketched by Suttons Bay art teacher Mary Hall.
