Wildflower rescue sale set for this weekend

Wildflower rescue sale set for this weekend
The Ostrich Fern, AKA fiddleheads are a large, graceful, shade-loving perennial known for its tall, feathery fronds that resemble ostrich plumes and its edible, fiddlehead-shaped spring shoots.

Every spring, a quiet but powerful act of conservation unfolds in Leelanau County. With trowels in their hands and dirt under their nails, a devoted group of volunteers gather to rescue native wildflowers from the path of construction.

Their efforts culminate in one of Leland’s most cherished events: the Leelanau Conservancy’s annual Wildflower Rescue Sale.

Held annually on Memorial Day weekend in the heart of Leland, the Wildflower Rescue sale is more than a plant sale — it’s a celebration of community driven conservation.
