When Kelly Harris was 20 years old her father sat her down in his garden and told her how he wanted her to live.
“He told me he wanted me to grow a garden instead of having a lawn,” Harris recalled. “He wanted me to raise my own kids and never work for a corporation… he gave me this whole long list of really good life advice.”
Overall, he wanted her to teach people about the woods. At the time, with little knowledge of the natural world, Harris thought the idea sounded absurd.
