A summer of fun planned at The Bay

With Memorial Day weekend fast approaching, summer is coming to The Bay Community Theatre – starting with a special Made in Michigan screening series of northern Michigan love story “An Autumn Summer,” a series of pop-up concerts and comedy shows, the return of weekly $1 family movies, and expanded summer hours.

The fun kicks off Friday, May 22, with a week long Made in Michigan screening series of “An Autumn Summer,” a coming- of-age love story set in a northern Michigan lakeside town. Written and directed by Jared Isaac and filmed here on location, “An Autumn Summer” tells the heartfelt story of Kevin (played by “Sing Street” star Mark McKenna) and Cody (played by “Shrinking” star Lukita Maxwell) as a young couple enjoying one last summer at a Michigan lake house before going away to college.

Local filmmaker JohnPaul Morris, who owns the Traverse City-based production studio Practical Films and is one of the film’s producers, will attend the May 22 screening for an audience Q&A. Writer-director Jared Isaac will attend the May 23 and 24 screenings for audience Q&As. The Bay’s popular Made in Michigan series highlights great films made in the state and provides unique opportunities for audiences to connect directly with the filmmakers and/or special guests through post-screening Q&As. Tickets for all Made in Michigan screenings are $15 and on sale now at TheBayTheatre.org.
