Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have fallen and to welcome sunshine and spring bloom for Leelanau residents and businesses.
“To me, this is the beginning of our season,” said David Alberts, owner of Boathouse Winery in Lake Leelanau.“The spring has been decent so far, and Memorial Weekend kicks off the busy season. Memorial Days in the past have been very busy, and I’ve enjoyed them because people walking through the door are always smiling.”
For Alberts, this weekend will be about serving up the rosé that takes in the May weather well.
