Empire Council tables sewer discussion

At a lengthy and somewhat heated meeting earlier this month, the Village of Empire Council tabled further discussion over the possibility of a wastewater system.

“We owe it to take another look at it,” council member Meg Walton said about a wastewater system. “It is not a magic bullet, it will not solve all of our problems… but we should at least be putting it in the mix and talking about it.”

The issue of a community wastewater system has circled the village for close to two decades, and installing one has often been brought up as a possible solution to bring in more business to the community. The idea is that limited septic capacity constrains development, especially on smaller lots and commercial properties.
