Leland junior Hayden VanSteenhouse tied for first with 77 at the MHSAA D4 regional championship Thursday at Birchwood Country Club in Harbor Springs.
The Leland junior tied for medalist after 18 holes before falling in the second playoff hole.
“I was about four over and then the coach came up to me on that one and said something that got me going. I wanted to push through to give the team the best shot,” VanSteenhouse said. “The undulations of the greens and speed changes were challenging. Adapting to the speeds through only one day. I think that’s a difficulty that everybody has to overcome.”
