Omena is seeing lots of graduations, and kids and grandkids here for the summer from college. Congratulations to William Krusel, son of Omena residents Susan and Bill Krusel, who graduated in the Class of 2026 from St. Mary School in Lake Leelanau last Sunday. He attended St. Mary’s since 9th grade, and has excelled academically as an honor roll student while also participating in varsity basketball and tennis. Looking ahead, he will attend the University of Michigan in the College of Engineering to study mechanical engineering.
He will be working at Leelanau Wine Cellars again this summer, as well as being a youth counselor at the Omena Traverse Yacht Club summer camp. His brother Karl is home for the summer before returning for his senior year at Grand Valley State University where he is majoring in information technology. He will be working at Knot Just a Bar – Omena, as well as DJing in various locations in the area. This month he will be at VI Grill in Suttons Bay on Fridays.
Hannah Fitzgerald is home for the summer from Sarah Lawrence College. She is working at New Bohemian Café in Northport. She will spend all of the coming school year at the University of Firenze in Florence, Italy, in a study abroad program.
