50 years in bloom with the Glen Lake Garden Club

For 50 years the Glen Lake Garden Club (GLGC) has shaped the look of Glen Arbor not only through flowers and gardens, but through a steady network of volunteer work. To celebrate the anniversary GLGC members will gather at the Glen Arbor Townhall on June 16 from 3 to 5 p.m. for a full afternoon tea.

However, the club does more than just throw a good party, “Far from hosting tea parties, this hard working group has a long history of beautification projects in Glen Arbor, Empire and Maple City as well as educating our members and the public about best environmental practices,” GLGC member Linda Young said.

The celebration itself is designed to reflect the club’s history by taking inspiration from the 30th anniversary vintage tea party, complete with a traditional high tea menu, hats and dresses and tables set with heirloom china brought by club members.
