Food program for seniors launched

Local seniors can access fresh fruit and vegetables through a new program offered by Leelanau County Senior Services (LCSS).

The agency launched a new Senior Produce Program May 1.

Eligible seniors can receive $25 in coupons to use at local farmers’ markets, farm store fronts, or roadside stands that display the sign “Coupons Welcome Here” throughout Leelanau County. This program, funded by millage dollars, is designed to support both local farmers and the health of the senior community by bringing fresh produce to your table.
