The Northport Village Council continued discussions regarding a potential Mill Pond millage at its work session on June 4.
While no action was taken at the meeting, the council will revisit consideration of the pond’s millage language at its next regular meeting set for June 18.
The resolution to approve ballot language for a millage proposition to levy a 0.90 mill tax for the replacement and reconstruction of the Mill Pond dam would be considered by the electorate at the November 3 general election. The millage would allow for the village to levy 0.90 mills ($0.90 per $1,000), for a period of 20 years beginning in 2027 and continuing through 2046. It’s estimated that the levy of 0.90 mills would raise approximately $75,285 in the first year the millage is levied.
