Change model to county manager

To the editor:

Placing the County Administrator on paid leave is not good news for a government that has had a lot of turnover of key administrators since 2022, which has likely increased the costs of operations and the indirect costs of simply doing business with the county. At this point, the Board needs to deal with the dysfunction in the administration.

Many counties in northern Michigan with similar features to Leelanau County have made the transition to a professional administrator with professional staff, so why is this so tough for Leelanau County?
