Belonging to ‘Camp Grace’

A couple months ago, the Enterprise ran a wedding section in which I wrote about an upcoming bachelorette party one of my best friends Grace would be having at the Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor. Well, it happened this last weekend and “Camp Grace” was so much better than I hoped for.

It started Friday evening with a dinner at Funistrada on Glen Lake. It was a great opener — it got everyone around a tight table sharing wine and trying to glean the basics from each other which made us bond quickly. We turned in early that night since half the group had come over early that morning on the ferry from Milwaukee, which set the tone for a party that was decidedly more camp than chaos.

Some of the girls already knew each other but the rest of us were new faces. There was something about the light anonymity of it all that for once emboldened me to be more open and more relaxed instead of making me more nervous and self aware like it might’ve in the past.
