The Northport Village Council took action last week on a resolution to approve ballot language for a millage proposition to levy a 0.90 mill tax for the replacement and reconstruction of the Mill Pond Dam.
The millage would be considered by the electorate at the November 3 general election. According to the millage resolution, it would allow for the village to levy 0.90 mills ($0.90 per $1,000 of taxable value) for a period of 20 years, beginning in 2027 and continuing through 2046, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the replacement and reconstruction of the Mill Pond Dam and related costs and expenses.
The levy of 0.90 mills would generate approximately $75,285 in the first year (2027) the millage is levied.
