Locals and visitors can look to the sky for more than the old red, white and blue over the holiday weekend.

Pyrotechnics have been part of Independence Day celebrations for 250 years.

The country’s famous fireworks tradition stems from patriot John Adams’ July 3, 1776, letter to his wife, Abigail according to history.com.
