An unexpected and potentially expensive reorganization proposal supported by the narrow majority of Republicans on the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners in May was countered last week by a more modest “personnel proposal” from County Administrator Chet Janik *** Cherry growers in Leelanau County faced heavy rainfall over the past week adding another twist to the already strange cherry growing season. Rainfall in the county is threatening an already damaged cherry crop leading to cracking in mainly sweet cherry varieties.
