The Gasts say goodbye to Leland

Leland will always be like home to Peter and Pat Gast, longtime summer renters in Fishtown since the late 1970s, even if this year’s change of scenery is a bit different from the decades before.

The Gasts’ spent the summer of 2025 in Fishtown at their longtime rental, located in the Leland River Townhouse across from the Stander Marine, for the last time. Their reliable townhouse rental has since been sold, and their faithful boat beloved by all family members finally had to be retired. Over the decades, every summer up north has been a special and celebratory one for the Gasts’ — whether it was watching the annual Leland Fourth of July parade with their children and grandchildren year after year, going on family treasure hunts, or being in the lake with their boat, the “Half Gast,” the memories will remain and is something they are grateful to have experienced for so long.
