The Empire Area Community Center (EACC) will host Empire Anchor Day on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, with a weekend of free community events.
Festivities kick off Friday at 7 p.m. with a movie night at Empire Township Hall featuring “How Empire Got Its Name” and “Bringing Up the Anchor.”
Saturday brings the Anchor Day Parade down Front Street at noon (line-up 11:30 a.m. at Johnson Park), a Pop-Up Book Sale at Glen Lake Community Library, and a Lions Club BBQ chicken dinner at Johnson Park from 1 to 7 p.m. The evening continues with a bonfire, free hot dogs and s’mores at Grocer’s Daughter from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a street dance with music by “Doc Probes” from 8:30–11:30 p.m. at the library plaza.
