The concern for removing obsolete dams on coldwater trout streams is unrelated to any particular political persuasion yet sadly I heard a man at Northport yesterday say it is “the liberals” who promote such.
In 2004, President George W. Bush signed an executive order that created the Federal Great Lakes Interagency Task Force. As a result, the following year the new Great Lakes Regional Collaboration (GLRC) developed a cohesive, strategic action plan from which spawned the landmark Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Strategy to Restore and Protect the Great Lakes and its many tributaries. Congress later ultimately used GLRC as a foundation when officially launching the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) in 2010 under the administration of then President Barack Obama.
