Jury duty scam reported

The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a jury duty scam where callers claim you’ve missed jury duty and demand payment to freeze a warrant.

Scammers often impersonate law enforcement officials, including the Sheriff’s Office, and ask for personal and financial information.

The Sheriff’s Offices emphasizes that they will never contact citizens via phone or email to collect payments or execute arrest warrants; such matters are always handled in person.
