On the 250th birthday of our nation, this is the man we have placed in power: At least eight flights on Jeffrey Epstein’s plane, while claiming he barely knew him. More than 400 invocations of the Fifth Amendment. Thirtyfour felony convictions. Ninetyone criminal charges brought against him. Dozens of sexual misconduct allegations. Six business bankruptcies, including his casinos — who loses money on a casino? Five draft deferments. Four criminal indictments. Two impeachments. Two Trump companies convicted of tax fraud. One fake university shut down after a $25 million fraud settlement. One charitable foundation shut down after a $2 million judgment for misuse of charitable funds. A $5 million civil verdict for sexual abuse and defamation. Another $83.3 million defamation verdict.
And now come brazen efforts to influence the coming midterms, alongside a presidency marked by a toxic mix of influence peddling, personal profit and acts of soulless revenge.
