In the month of January, I tried something new to me — a structured diet — that consisted of eating only carnivore products for World Carnivore month.
The carnivore diet is a dietary approach that consumes only animal products and excludes all plant-based foods.
This includes meats, fish, poultry, eggs, and butter. The diet eliminates carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, grains, and most importantly, processed foods.
At first, I struggled immensely with a consistent energy level and felt intense cravings of sugary foods. These feelings were so intense at times that it felt like I was hallucinating or withdrawing from not eating sugar.
After the first two weeks, my body seemed adjusted, and I finally got the preparation of my meals fully down. I started to notice that my focus on any given subject increased dramatically and the ability to achieve a flow-state could be done at any given moment. I can only describe that state as pure focus, euphoria, or happiness on most days. The stress of my dayto- day life suddenly had a lot less weight to it, and my ability to make decisions was seamless.
This feeling hasn’t stopped, even after I broke my carnivore diet in February.
By the end of the month, I felt fully tuned in to how my body was feeling, almost like an electric current. My improved ability to stay completely in the moment of life, while not stressing about events of the past, and not worrying about the challenges in the future was encouraging.
Along with a month of intense workouts and sauna treatments, I managed to lose 12 pounds of my 20-pound goal for the year.
I broke my diet by going to the movie theater, lathering up a bucket of popcorn with butter, and enjoyed a sub-par “Agrylle” movie. That popcorn gave me such a loopy or goofy feeling like a kid in a candy store.
As I contemplate my next step, carnivore is something that I will continue, but I will definitely treat myself in moderation, something I’ve struggled with for most of my life.
The feeling of only eating carnivore gave me a primal sense that no other food has and I’m happy I completed a challenge that was always knocking around in my head.
I don’t have any beef with vegetables or fruit; vegetarian or veganism.
I love fruit, especially our delicate cherries. My particular problem with food is the lies. The lies of the food pyramid, pesticide use, microplastics, among countless others that have led to our poisoned food system, and in turn, poisoned society and poisoned youth.
After all, humans evolved as carnivores, and maybe we should get back to that, instead of allowing greedy corporations and failing government agencies to trap us into dictating what we should eat to fulfill some worthless agenda.
