State officials concerned about invasive spread

The hemlock woolly adelgid can kill hemlock trees but is a very small invasive pest, making it hard to see in untreated firewood.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Department of Natural Resources are warning residents against transporting untreated firewood.
