Obligated to tell both sides of the story

A two-part story featuring the couple leading the effort to establish a “home” for the Youth For Christ (YFC) organization in Leland seems to have ruffled some feathers.

Our in-boxes were filled Thursday with emails from persons who apparently think the newspaper went overboard in a sit-down with Liz and Jim Vansteenhouse, the applicant for a permit to operate a “clubhouse” from a building at 110 North Lake Street in the commercial district near Fishtown.

However, opponents argue that the space is zoned only for businesses, not religious clubhouses, and that the center would displace much-needed retail space and further reduce availability of space which is at a prime each summer in Leland.
