The Glen Lake Community library is an incredible resource for the townships of Empire, Glen Lake, and Kasson. It provides an amazing collection of materials for all ages. There are programs for children and adults, a large meeting room which often showcases local art, a collection of used books for sale as well as books free to pick up and return if you just need something to read. Check out magazines and newspapers, find a CD for your audio needs. Storytimes for kids, yes; book clubs for grownups, yes; author visits, yes. Need to print something, need to use a computer, or need to access WiFi - the library offers all these services. The staff is friendly, helpful, and professional. You can also find respite from the heat or the smokey air and sit down in one of the many cozy chairs. In short, the library is a resource and a haven for all.
As a retired school librarian of 36 years who knows that the library is the beating heart of a school, I also know that a public library is the beating heart of a community. Please vote YES on August 4 for the Glen Lake Community Library’s millage RENEWAL to continue support for this valuable community resource.
