Ingrid Paciorka, a senior at Leland Public School, was selected to receive a $2,500 START Scholarship from the P.E.( Sisterhood).
She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter EM of Suttons Bay The P.E.O. STAR scholarship was established in 2009 to provide scholarships for exceptional high school senior women in their final year of high school to attend an accredited postsecondary education institution in the U.S. or Canada in the next academic year. The competitive STAR Scholarship is for women who exhibit excellence in leadership, academics, extracurricular activities, community service and potential for future success.
Paciorka was on the basketball team, the Student Council, and in the International Thespian Society and has been involved in many theater productions.
She will attend the University of Michigan in the fall to pursue a degree in chemical engineering. Her ultimate goal is to work on sustainable fuel alternatives,working for an organization such as NASA.
Chapter EM has been part of the Leelanau community since it was organized in 1984.
