Public deserves an explanation

To the editor:

Recent public statements by Commissioners Gwenne Allgaier and Rick Robbins praising Jim Dyer raise an important question.

Both commissioners voted unanimously to place Mr. Dyer on administrative leave, accept the findings of two independent investigations, reject his counterproposal, authorize settlement negotiations, and approve his separation. Those were among the most significant personnel decisions this Board has made in years.
